Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

What is NLP?

NLP is the practice of understanding how people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behaviour to produce the results they do. NLP provides people with a methodology to model outstanding performances achieved by geniuses and leaders in their field.

A key element of NLP is that we form our unique internal mental ‘Maps of the World’ as a product of the way we filter and perceive information absorbed through our five senses from the world around us.

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) was created in the early 70’s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder.  They were privileged to study extraordinary therapists such as

Virginia Satir  (26 June 1916 – 10 September 1988) who was an American author and psychotherapist, known especially for her approach to family therapy and her work with Systemic Constellations. Her most well-known books are Conjoint Family Therapy, 1964, People making, 1972, and The New People making, 1988.

She is also known for creating the Virginia Satir Change Process Model, a psychological model which was developed through clinical studies.

Friedrich (Frederick) Salomon Perls (July 8 1893, Berlin – March 14, 1970, better known as Fritz Perls, was a noted German-born psychiatrist and psychotherapist.

Perls coined the term ‘Gestalt Therapy‘ to identify the form of psychotherapy that he developed with his wife Laura Perls in the 1940s and 1950s.

Milton Hyland Erickson, (5 December 1901 – 25 March 1980) was an American psychiatrist specializing in medical hypnosis and family therapy. He was founding president of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis and a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Psychopathological Association. He is noted for his approach to the unconscious mind as creative and solution-generating. He is also noted for influencing brief therapy, strategic family therapy, family systems therapy, solution focused brief therapy, and neuro-linguistic programming.
